Mandya: Following the inter-religious marriage in Mandya, the pro-Hindu organisations have called for a dawn to dusk bandh in Mandya on April 16.
Ashitha, daughter of noted doctor from Mandya, Narendrababu is all set to wed her boyfriend belonging to Muslim community on April 17.
The marriage has been widely opposed by the right-wing organisations alleging ‘love-jihad’, an attempt to convert the girl to Islam.
The organisations have alleged that there have been several incidents where Vokkaliga and other Hindu community girls are being converted after forcing them to fall in love. It is absolutely a love-jihad case. Hence, such marriages should not take place.
Several other organisations too have extended support for the bandh.
Swabhimani Vokkaliga Sene has come out with a statement that if this marriage is allowed, then there will be more such marriages in the society. There should not be such situation in the future.
Both the families of Ashitha and her boyfriend have approved their wedding which is scheduled to be held on April 17, yet the right wing activists have opposed it.
