Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim said today that the permission for public display of fireworks will be given, only if the firework show is performed by an approved agency.
“Any kind of firework show from 10pm to 6am will not be allowed,” he said.
The announcement was made at a meeting between fireworks manufacturers and sellers with the Deputy Commissioner and other officials today at Deputy Commissioner’s office, Mangaluru.
Assistant Deputy Commissioner Kumar said that a meeting was held the very next day after the Kerala temple fireworks tragedy, regarding fireworks manufacturing and selling after which two to three circulars were sent concerning about the matter.
“Under Explosives act 1984, the license will be issued under three categories. The fireworks manufacturer should have LE1 license to manufacture fireworks, LE5 license to store the crackers and LE6 license for public display of fireworks,” he added.
He further said that seven fireworks manufacturing units have the license to manufacture crackers. The name and address of these units will be displayed in the DC’s official website. If any illegal fireworks manufacturing units are found somewhere in Dakshina Kannada, then the public should inform the concerned authorities about it.
“For the public display of fireworks, the permission should be taken well in advance. For acquiring the permission, the applicant should file an application with his photograph along with police NOC, fire service NOC and land owner NOC. An affidavit should be submitted to the Assistant Commissioner regarding the safety measures taken. The application fee will be Rs 500,” he informed.
Puttur Assistant Commissioner Dr Rajendra, SP Dr Sharanappa, other officials, fireworks manufacturing unit owners and sellers were present.
