Mangaluru: Former Congress MP and senior leader B Janardhana Poojary lashed out at the newly inducted BJP State President over accepting a Rs one crore worth car for touring the state, here on April 16.
Speaking at a pressmeet at the Congress office here on Saturday, Poojary said, “When Chief Minister Siddaramaiah accepted a watch as a gift, BJP criticized it. Now your own party chief has been gifted a Rs one crore worth car. It’s your responsibility to answer. When the mediapersons questioned about it, you defended saying that you accepted the car as a security measure. When I was the KPCC president I have travelled and visited the state in Ambassador Car.

“You have told that you have accepted the car on grounds of security. There is no one who can dare to harm you. Today, media and public is questioning you. Tell that you are not accepting the car,” he said.

Further, critizing BSY, Poojary said, “Today in BJP Shobha Karandlaje is the most happiest person after Yeddyurappa was made the party chief. She has already declared BSY as the Chief Minister. There are several other party leaders like Ananth Kumar, Jagadish Shettar and D V Sadananda Gowda who have posed for photographs when you took charge. But they are not happy after you were made the president of the state unit and a few insiders in BJP are saying that Yeddurappa has become the chief to finish off the party.”

He criticised the media for being biased. “When the watch controversy surfaced, you questioned. When the Prime Minister accepted a suit worth Rs 10 lakhs, why didn’t you question? Is there a separate law for a Chief Minister and Prime Minister?” he asked.

Poojary came down heavily on Chief Minister on the recent controversy of tender issue involving his son Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah.

Poojary welcomed the decision of Dr Yathindra to step down as the director of Matrix company after the tender controversy surfaced.

“Through Digvijay Singh, the Congress High Command has asked CM’s son to step down. Now with Dr Yathindra stepping down as its director, the issue has not ended. You must cancel the tender,” he urged the CM.
