Homeless stage Protest seeking Housing Sites from State Authorities

Mandya: The activists of Pranta Krushi Koolikara Sangh and Karnataka Bhoohakkudarara Vedike staged protest in the city urging the state authorities to allot housing sites to homeless and also to issue title deeds.

The protesters gathered nearby Silver Jubilee Park and held a protest rally in the city.  The protesters also presented a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner on the occasion.

The protesters urged the authorities to provide housing sites and houses to homeless living in Tamil colony, Shankara Nagar, Gandhi Nagar and bidi colony in Mandya town; Madoor town Tamil colony, Gandhi Park, Malavalli taluk Kiragasoor, Bandoor Kulume Doddi, Siddapura, Malavalli town, Pandavapura, T S Chatra in the taluk and other areas.

The allotment of housing sites on the land acquired as per the government order was withheld owing to interim-stay from the Land Tribunal.  At this backdrop, the protesters urged the authorities to review all the applications filed under form 52 and form 53, for the effect of legalizing encroached forest land and also clear all the pending cases, urged the protesters.

The protesters also urged the authorities to allot housing sites who paid a few thousand rupees as security money with MUDA.  Besides, the houses should be a minimum of 1,500 square feet.  The housing loan with subsidy should be advanced to city dwellers at Rs 3 lac each and for rural dwellers @ Rs 2 lac each, urged the protesters.
