Grand Teppotsava held at Chamundi Hills

Mysore :The Teppotsava of Goddess Chamundeshwari was held on October 19, Saturday night with great fervour as per the religious customs and traditions.

The idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari was installed at the tastefully decorated Teppa or boat at Devikere in Chamundi Hills before the pooja. Later the Teppotsava commenced with Maha Mangalarati to the Goddess.

Pramoda Devi Wodeyar of the Mysore Royal family was also present.There was even a fire works show.Thousands of devotees had gathered on either sides of the lake to witness the event and shouted slogans hailing Goddess Chamundeshwari.Later, there was a golden palanquin festival (Chinnada Pallakki Utsava).The Goddess was taken in the golden palanquin from Devikere to Chamundeshwari Temple with the participation of thousands of devotees.

Traffic disruption :Traffic on the route was disrupted for hours together as devotees were rushing towards the Devikere in their vehicles right since 6 pm. Police had a tough time in regulating traffic.Former minister SA Ramdas too arrived for the ceremony with his mother.

The police had made elaborate security arrangements for the event.

The Chamundeshwari Temple Priest Shashishekhar Dikshith has informed that on October 22, a special pooja would be offered to Goddess Chamundeshwari after bedecking her with all jewels of the royal family at 7.30 pm.

Dr MA Saleem, City Police Commissioner said security to the temple would be stepped up during the event.
