Udupi :Vinay Kumar Sorake, district in-charge and urban development minister said “Efforts are on to revive Brahmavar sugar factory.The government will very soon convene a meeting with the farmers to discuss the next course of action. We will strive to retain the factorys location,” he said.
He addressed the gathering after inaugurating agricultural fair organized at regional agricultural and horticultural research center, Brahmavar by Shimoga agriculture in association with horticultural university and Brahmavar agricultural science center.
“A compensation of Rs.25,000 per hectare will be given to farmers if their more than 50 per cent of their farm has been destroyed by floods. There will be no scarcity of water if excess of rain water flowing in 13 rivers will be diverted to Western Ghats.” he added.
Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, Upendra Nayak, president, Zilla Panchayat, P.M.Salivmat, special officer, Agricultural and Horticultural University, Shimoga were present among others.
