Kasargod :A special police team of Kasargod has arrested two persons  on the charges of smuggling liquor in an autorickshaw. The arrested are Premjith (27) of Battampare and Umesh (21) of Nellikunje. The police had earlier on October 13 seized 560 bottles of foreign liquor while it was being transported in an autorickshaw  from Tayalangady.

Interrogations of the  accused revealed that the liquor was brought to Kasargod from Goa via train. Of the two, Premjith used to transport the liquor to Kasargod twice a week  and the same used to be supplied to several places in Umesh’s autorickshaw.

The arrested have reportedly told the police that they used to smuggle  liquor in this way on several occasions in the past to Madhur and Nellikunje.

Further investigations are under progress.
