Madikeri : State Home Minister KJ George has said that the state government was committed to bring the  tribal people of Naxal affected areas to the mainstream society by  helping reach out government facilities to them.

Speaking to reporters here, the home minister said the government has chalked out several programmes to improve basic amenities to the   tribal people. Steps would be taken to make  rules flexible so that government amenities  reach the tribals easily. Measures would be taken to also   offer self-employment training and educational aid to youth of tribal hit areas.

He  also warned Naxals against taking law into hands instead of settling issues through talks with the government. The government is ever ready to enter into talks with Naxals, he said and   added caution has been maintained in the wake of Naxals being spotted even in Madikeri district.

The government was also committed to modernize the police department and equip it with latest gadgets, the home minister informed.

District Superintendent of Police MN Anucheth and several police officials were present.
