Mysore: The Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has come out with a three-point formula, to restrain indiscretions in the department, for which he organized a press meet recently.
Addressing other officials from the department along with the media personals he said, “The inspection of fair price shops (FPS) every month, must weed out fake ration cards with the help of FPS owners. A set up is initiated, as a toll free helpline will enable consumers to lodge their complaints, the toll-free helpline number- 1967, wherein the consumers can lodge their queries if any between 10 am and 5.30 pm.”
“Food inspectors have been instructed to inspect a shop every month and take action in case of any irregularities. In the case of minimum violation, the license of such shops will be cancelled, while a criminal case will also be booked in case of any serious offences”, he added.
Rao who is all set to take up strict actions said, “Deputy Commissioners of every prominent district, have been allotted the responsibility to inspect the shopkeepers and take action against them in case of falsification. Although the shopkeeper will be given an opportunity till the end of the month to surrender bogus cards if any.”
