Four chain-snatching cases reported within 24 hrs in city

Mysuru: Within a span of 24 hours, bike-borne chain-snatchers snatched gold chains from four women. The repeated chain snatching incidents in city has put a challenge to the police.

On Sunday, the first incident was reported at 7.30am. The bike-borne chain snatcher approached 50-year-old Rukmini who was on her way to buy milk at Ittigegud in Nazarbad Police limits. The youths asked for an address. When Rukmini started showing the route, the pillion rider snatched her 80-gram chain. Within span of seconds, the duo escaped from the spot. The second incident took place at 8.15 am with 57-year-old Suma of Krishnamurthypuram in Lakshmipuram. Here too, the duo asked the address of a tuition centre, when she was helping them with the address, the duo snatched 37-gram gold chain from her and sped away.

Incidents on Saturday

The first incident was reported at JSS Layout in Nazarbad police limits. Two bike-borne miscreants approached Manjula seeking an address. As her attention was diverted, they snatched her 45-gram gold chain and fled. The second incident was reported at Sharadadevinagar Circle at about 4.55 pm. Bike-borne miscreants targeted another woman who was walking towards her house after alighting from a city bus. They snatched her chain and fled the scene in a flash. But luckily, it was not a gold chain. According to police, all the four incidents were committed by youths who had come on a Kerala-registered black Pulsar bike.
