Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday asked the police officials to take strict measures to maintain law and order in the state during Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
A meeting of senior police officials was convened at the chief minister’s official residence Krishna to discuss the measures to be taken to maintain law and order during Tipu Jayanti celebrations. The chief minister had directed the police officials to keep a vigil on anti-social elements to prevent any untoward incidents during Tipu Jayanti celebrations. “Some people are trying to politicize the celebrations of Tipu Jayanti. They want to get political mileage out of it. They are even trying to disturb peace in society. The police should not give a chance to such anti-social elements,’’ the chief minister said.
He has asked the police officers to take anti-social elements into preventive custody to avoid untoward incidents during Tipu Jayanti celebrations. “I want the senior police officials and Deputy Commissioners to remain at district headquarters and supervise security arrangements,’’ he said.
Minister for Home Dr G Parameshwar, Om Prakash, Director General and Inspector General of Police, B Dayanand, Inspector General of Police, Intelligence Department and other senior police officials attended the meeting.
