Mysuru: A minor girl forced into marriage by her parents ultimately gave a slip to both her husband and her parents to land in women’s counselling centre in Mysuru, when all options ran out for her. The incident took place in Beechanahalli police station limits of H D Kote taluk.
The minor aged 17, a resident of Hosaholalu village in H D Kote taluk was given in marriage to Puroshottam of Jalahalli village in Nanjangud taluk.
After six months of marriage, when the minor girl reached parental home for Gauri-Ganesha festival, she refused to get back to her husband’s house. However, her father Krishna forced her to get back to her in-laws’ house and summoned his son-in-law to take her along with him on his bike.
On her way back to husband’s home, she intentionally dropped her footwear midway near Antarsanthe police station. When the husband stopped the bike for her to pick the footwear, she ran into the police station and narrated the story and sought relief from the cops.
Police took her husband into custody immediately and registered a case. Meanwhile, they sent the minor girl to a women’s counselling centre.
During interrogation, the girl revealed that her parents arranged the wedding against her wishes to save their face, to prevent the girl from getting married to a youth from the same village, with whom she fell in love.
Girl’s parents are absconding and the husband has been remanded to judicial custody.
Krishna had forced his daughter to marry Purushottam, son of Chenaiah from Jalahalli village in Nanjangud taluk.
