Dharwad: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has stated that only if farmers came to power in the country, their burning problems could be solved.
Speaking at a farmers’ programme organised by AAP in Dharwad, Sisodia said except agriculture, all other fields in India are undergoing tremendous change and progress. “One of the reasons for this is the present political system. Hence, the farmers too should become vigilant and field their leaders in the elections. If the farmers come to power, the agriculture sector in India can thrive,” he added.
“The Delhi government is creating a history by ensuring welfare state. Around 8,000 new classrooms have been constructed. The district hospitals are being upgraded, 25 percent of the total budget amount is reserved for education and to bailout the farmers, Rs 25,000 compensation is being given per hectare”, he said.
He said though the successive governments were well aware of the plight of the farmers, they had not tried to solve it and kept it alive for political mileage. The nation cannot progress unless farmers are empowered financially and this could be achieved only if they got scientific price for their produce, he added.
