Farmers oppose Releasing water to TN

Mysore: Karnataka state Raita Sangh staged protest here on Thursday June 27, opposing releasing water from Kabini dam to Tamil Nadu (TN).


Addressing the protesters, Raita Sangh district secretary Ashwattanarayan urged the state authorities to release water to the nature ponds and lakes that are situated in Nanjanagod, T Narasipura, Kollegala, Chamarajanagar and neighbouring villages, instead of TN.  He alleged that water is being released to TN no sooner the water level reached 70 feet citing safety concerns by the officers, alleged Ashwattanarayan.

He also cautioned the state administration of massive protest in case the water is not released to nature ponds and lakes in different villages by July fifth.

The farmers leaders K M Puttaswamy, K G Shivakumar, Kumaraswamy, H N Mahadevappa and others were present at the occasion.
