Elaborate arrangements in place for South Graduates’ constituency election

Mysuru: The District administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure free, fair and peaceful polling for the south graduate constituency elections to be held on Thursday, June 9.

There are 17 candidates in the fray for the upper house. There are 120445 graduate voters in four districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and Chamarajnagar. There are 130 voting centres with 59 in Mysuru, 26 in Hassan, 34 In Mandya and 11 in Chamarajnagar. As many as 762 officials at various levels have been given the charge to monitor the voting process.

Each district will have four squads while 26 squads have been formed at the taluk-level. A total of 54 flying squads have been pressed into action.

Each contesting candidate is allowed to use 3 vehicles on polling day till 4 pm, beyond which they will be seized. There are 11 check posts 3 each in Mandya and Chamarajnagar, 4 in Hassan and 1 in Mysuru district to check irregularities.

NOTA for the first time

NOTA is being employed for the first time in these elections. Voters can choose serial number 18 to exercise NOTA as there are 17 candidates in fray.
