Mysuru: Police sources said on Tuesday that Chief Minister Siddaramiah has asked the City Police Commissioner to go slow on the investigation pertaining to the complaint lodged by Deputy Commissioner Shikha. In the mean time it is learnt that he has asked the DC’s husband who is the Deputy Commissioner in Mandya to resolve the crisis amicably and put the issue to rest.
Even after two days after lodging the complaint, the inaction by the police in arresting Marigowda who was involved in the verbal abuse and threat on Shikha, DC of Mysuru has evoked strong reaction from the opposition parties and CM’s detractors. Being aware of the consequences, the CM has asked the Deputy Commissioner of Mandya, Nagabhushan to mediate, solve the tangle and close the issue which has drawn a lot of public attention in the last couple of days. Accordingly Nagbhushan’s wife, DC Shikha is likely to heed to her husband’s advice and settle the issue.
In the mean time, Marigowda and his supporters are exerting a lot of pressure on the CM to transfer the DC from Mysuru who has been serving from the past 3 years in the district which has made life difficult for people like Marigowda. Many consider that the tenure given for a senior official like DC to serve in one place like Mysuru is too long. Some reports suggest that the CM has assured his aides that the DC would be transferred after this year’s Dasara celebrations.
In the mean time Marigowda has moved anticipatory bail application in the high court to prevent arrest.
BJP goes all guns blazing
Following the demand made by BJP MP from Mysuru Prathap Simha, another senior BJP leader and MP Shobha Karandhlaje has demanded to file a case of sexual abuse against Marigowda, a close confidant of the CM.
As lot of dust has generated over the issue, the next few days are likely to witness few developments which might have serious political and administrative implications.
It may be recalled that CM’s aide Marigowda had verbally abused and threatened the DC during CM’s visit to Mysuru to attend an Ifthar meet in the city. The DC instead of accompanying the CM, went straight from the government guest house to the Nazarbad police station and lodged a complaint against Marigowda .
