Mysuru: One of the three leopard cubs which were rescued by forest personnel a few days back died on Monday due to lack of treatment from forest officials.

On Monday one of the leopard cubs whose health condition deteriorated was brought to the city veterinary hospital for treatment. The cub which was under shock was given drips and injections. Once the cub got a little better, the forest department personnel took it back to Aranya Bhavan where it was kept since it was rescued from Varkodu.

Karikalan, DCF (Teritorial) said, “Among three cubs which were rescued on Wednesday, the cub which expired on Monday was very weak. We had given treatment at the city veterinary hospital but we couldn’t save it. The other two cubs are healthy.” He also mentioned that due to space constraints at the Zoo, these cubs couldn’t get treated.

“We have brought this to the notice of our PCCF Hosmath, who is the decision taking authority. As of now we are treating two cubs as per direction from veterinary doctors.

According to Dr Anil who was treating the cub said, “The cub was under shock and very weak. We had given treatment for the same. After the treatment the forest department took the cub later we don’t know what happened.”

It can be brought to light that on Wednesday, villagers noticed three leopard cubs and alerted forest personnel who took those cubs into their custody. Since then, the forest department themselves treated these cubs in their office.
