Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Science building at Yedapura village and thus met a long pending demand of the people of Chamarajanagar district.
Already 112 students who had been selected through National Eligible Test (NET) had got admission to the college.The state government’s prestigious project was constructed by Public Works Department at Yedapura village on Gundlupet Road at a cost of Rs 118 crore. BG Shirke Constructions Technology which took up the construction in September 2014 completed college building, boys and girls hostels, doctors’ quarters and non-teaching staff building in the 42 acres land.
The college building which is built in M-sand is constructed for 150 students with four lecture hall to accommodate 150 capacity, a lecture hall which can accommodate 350 capacity, 252 capacity auditorium with green room and 600 sqm air conditioned library. The Medical Council of India assessed the need for medical college two years back. The team during their assessment found that there were was average of 782 OPD cases, 75 casualty, 42 admissions, 22 discharges, 62% bed occupancy, around three major surgical operations, reported daily in the district hospital and reported for a need for medical college.
Out of the 150 seats, already seats are filled through NET. All the latest medical facilities are available in the college.
