Mysore : The 21st annual carol singing competitions organised by the Carmel Catholic Association of Mysore heralded the beginning of the Christmas arrangements in the cultural city of Mysore. The carols sung by children dressed in colourful attire won the hearts of the gathering.
Over 4000 children belonging to nearly 80 troupes from various schools and colleges including Kinder Garten kids holding balloons in hands added gaiety to the competitions. The event was held at the College of Fine Arts premises of Mysore University.
Each team had nearly 20 to 40 singers. Students from St Joseph, St Antony, St Philomena, Christ The King, St Joseph and other institutions took part. Children also presented a very attractive ballet depicting the birth of Jesus.
Rev. Dr Gilbert Aranha, Executive Secretary of CCBI, Dr RN Srilatha, Principal of the College, CV Anto, President of the Carmel Catholic Association, Devis Joseph, Vice President, MK Johny, Secretary and others were present.
