Belthangady : The Tulu Okkoota staged a dharna in front of the Belthangady Taluk Panchayat Office on December 9, Monday demanding inclusion of Tulu language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution. The protest was staged to also press the government to declare the Dravidian language Tulu with a history of 300 years, as the official language of the state.
The protestors urged the government to give Tulu its due recognition by including it in the 8th schedule of the Constitution at the earliest.
Office bearers and members of Chavadi Koota Tulunad, Bolter Taluk Koota, Bolter Pente Koota participated in the protest.
