Mysuru: The followers of former minister Srinivas Prasad who was dropped from the Cabinet on Saturday observed Nanjangud and Chamarajanagar bandh on Monday. They even threatened to resign en-mass.

At Nanjangud, the traffic on Mysuru-Nanjangud NH212 came to a grinding halt for more than two hours. Hundreds of protestors shouted slogans against Siddaramaiah, Sonia Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders who were responsible for the ouster of Prasad from the Cabinet. The protesters want the Congress party to re-instate Prasad into the Cabinet.
Not only schools and colleges, but also commercial establishments were closed in Nanjangud Taluk. Commercial establishments were opened later in the evening. Some of the irate protestors even pelted stones on buses forcing the authorities to suspend buses for a few hours. Police had made elaborate security arrangement. Superintendent of Police Abhinav Khare personally supervised the security.
The elected members belonging to Najangud Town Panchayat and Gram Panchayat in Nanjangud Taluk threatened to resign en-mass.
It was almost similar situation in Chamarajanagar. The protesters threatened to launch state-wide protest if the government and Congress high command failed to reconsider their decision in dropping Srinivas Prasad from the Cabinet.
