Udupi: Loyal D’Souza was unanimously elected as Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) president Udupi diocese for the year 2016-17.

Loyal from Pamboor parish in Shirva zone was elected as the president in the annual meeting. The election of new office bearers was held in Don Bosco hall at the Mother of Sorrows Church. Director of Udupi diocese social service commission, Fr Reginald Pinto conducted the election.

Fr Edwin D’ Souza, the organisation director, administered oath to the new office bearers.

The office bearers elected are as following:

Vice president (male) – Arthur Dais, Byndoor; Vice president (female) – Esline Lavina D’ Souza, Hirgana; Secretary – Felina D’ Souza, Moodubelle; PRO – Onil Keith Andrade, Kalmadi; Treasurer – Don D’ Souza, Perampalli; Diocese Representative – Jaston Fernandes, Kallianpur Milagres; Velilda Mendonca Miyar; Appointed Members – Ranson Rolphy Serrao, Mundkooru and Lavita Joyce Cutinho. Zonal presidents are Royceton D’Souza, Kallianpur, Vinel Delson D’Souza, Udupi, Flexon D’Silva Karkal, Joyson D’Sa Shirva and Lavita Pinto, Kundapur.

The Chief guest for the occasion Udupi diocese Catholic education society secretary Fr Lawrence D’ Souza who stressed on the need for good leaders in the society, said that youth should use the opportunities and showcase their talents.

Pavithra Menezes, a young Village Accountant, was felicitated on the occasion.

Sr Lucy, Walter D’ Souza and others were present. Former president Derrick Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering while the newly elected president Loyel D’ Souza delivered the vote of thanks.
