Bonzai, Penzai workshop kick starts in Mysuru

Mysuru: Penzai (tray lanscaping) and Bonzai (miniature plants) demonstration kick started at the Nityotsava Convention Hall on Saturday, June 11.

Speaking after inaugurating the workshop Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetha said that the Peetha will host an international-level Bonsai event in December, this year.

“Bonsai is a rare human endeavour which reflects the cosmic creation. Kishkinda Moola Bonsaai garden there are more than 450 carefully shaped Bonsais of international standards displayed in an oriental garden. With this the ashram becomes the first of its kind in India,” he said adding that awareness on bonsai is required especially among children about important bonsai plants.

Delhi based Bonsai artist Manoj Kumar who is known for his creation of Penjings (Penzai) that depicts reverence for nature by using advanced techniques of bonsais and also known for using small stones and water to represent miniature landscapes that reflects nature, conducted the workshop. Bonsai artist Anitha Suresh, Uma Mahesh, Prithvi Sudhindra and others were present. Rajendra, President, Karnataka Hotel Owners Association was also present.

Bonsai ceramic containers, bonsais, terrariums, figurines, manure and various other horticulture items were kept for sale at the two day event. One can visit between 10 am and 6pm.
