Mysore : Congress President Sonia Gandhi has charged the BJP of conspiring to break the unity and integrity of the nation.
Addressing a huge convention organised by the Congress party at the Maharaja College Grounds on April 9, Wednesday, she said “The BJP is not happy with the unity of the nation and wants to advocate a single culture.” “With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, people of Karnataka have two choices before them -the Congress party which advocates secularism and social equality and the BJP which glorifies communalism,” Sonia said “ I am sure that you will make the right choice,” the Congress President said adding the Congress government has launched several welfare initiatives while the BJP is only speaking about corruption all the time.”
She took on Modi’s comments and said the RTI and Lokpal are the achievements of the Congress and not that of the BJP.

Stating that the farmers are responsible for the Congress coming to power, Sonia said the Congress has never let down farmers and is always committed to protect their interests.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC Chief Dr G Parameshwar, Union Minister Rehman Khan, Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad, Minister for Co-operation HS Mahadevaprasad, party candidates H Vishwanath, R Dhruvanarayan, Ramya, MLAs Tanveer Sait, Vasu, MK Somashekhar and others were present.
Thousands had gathered for Sonia convention and were delighted when Sonia waved at them.
Premakumari joins Congress : In a sudden development, Premakumari who had kicked off a controversy by levelling sexual harassment charges against former BJP Minister SA Ramdas, has joined the Congress. It may be recalled here that her charges had even forced the former minister to attempt suicide.
Ramdas who was under rest for some time, has been campaigning for party’s Mysore candidate Pratap Simha despite opposition from party men. In the meantime there was information that he was even planning to enter into a compromise with Premakumari. However, in a sudden development Premakumari participated in the Congress convention at Mysore on Wednesday and was seen sitting close by the media gallery donning a Congress cap. Some Congress workers even prevented a few photographers from clicking Premakumari’s pictures.
