Bidi laborers to stage Bangalore Chalo on Jul 9

Mandya: The bidi laborers will stage Bangalore Chalo on July 9 urging the state authorities in order to fulfill their various demands, said bidi laborers Union state chief secretary Sayyed Mujeeb.

Addressing the media persons during the press meet, Mujeeb said that the uniong governments stance on discontinuing scholarship to children of bidi laborers and mandatorily linking Aadhaar card number is applying for scholarship will force the children of bidi laborers to be deprived of education.

Mujeeb alleged that scholarship to the children of bidi laborers are not properly awarded since the past 2 to 3 years in Karnataka. The bidi laborers are distressed due to skyrocketing of prices of daily necessities, alleged Mujeeb.

Mujeeb urged the state authorities to fix a minimum wages of Rs 200 for 1,000 bidi and also increase dearness allowance by 0.05 paisa, to introduce labor laws and bring them under the purview of PF benefits, urged Mujeeb.

The labor representatives from all the districts of Karnataka will take part in Bangalore Chalo on July 9, said Mujeeb.

Bidi laborers Union president Vilayat Unnisa, district chief secretary C Kumari, treasurer Razia Begam, district leaders, Nafeesa Banu, Abdul, Haseena, Saira Bano were present at the press meet.
