Mangalore : The Third Additional District and Sessions Court which has convicted a man from Koltige  to eight years of Rigorous Imprisonment after holding him responsible for the suicide of his pregnant wife, by torturing her mentally. The Court has also directed the convict to pay a penalty amount of R s 60,000 to the mother of his deceased wife.

Rajesh alias Rajkumar of Koltige is the person who is proved guilty of the charges. His pregnant wife Reshma had committed suicide on August 1, 2011 fed up with his continuous mental torture. In fact she had on earlier occasions complained to her parents regarding the harassment.

When she ended her life, her brother Naveen Shetty had lodged a complaint against Rajesh and his mother Pushpavathi, The Court while proving Rajesh guilty has absolved Pushpavathi of the charges on the grounds of lack of evidences.
