Be courteous with passengers, DCP tells auto drivers

Mysore : MM Mahadevaiah, Deputy Commissioner of Police has urged  autorickshaw drivers to be courteous with passengers and also not to levy excess fares.

He was speaking after inaugurating an awareness programme for autorickshaw drivers at the office of the Police Commissioner here on September 28, Saturday. Referring to the  complaints that  autorickshaw drivers were collecting excess fares from  tourists visiting the city for Dasara, he said this was an insult to the entire city. He urged the autorickshaw drivers to treat tourists with respect and not to fleece them.

During the training programme, autorickshaw drivers were asked to compulsorily wear  uniforms,  to maintain all documents pertaining to their vehicle and  keep the meters in good condition. Handouts  mentioning the rules they need to follow, were also distributed.
