Mysore : Crime Prevention Month programmes commenced in the city on December 7, Saturday. City Police Commissioner Dr Saleem flagged off an awareness jatha organised in this connection. The participants of the jatha were seen holding placards highlighting the need to prevent crimes.
Addressing the gathering, the Police Commissioner said good co-operation between the public and the police will go a long way in checking the crime rate.
On this occasion there was an exhibition of stolen goods which have been seized by the police. The valuables were then handed over to their rightful owners. Police personnel who have rendered outstanding services in maintenance of station records, speedy investigation into crime cases etc were awarded on the occasion.
As part of a public awareness drives, various programmes like public contact meets, lectures to school children on crime prevention, legal awareness programmes etc were organised.
Handouts with useful information on crime prevention are also being distributed through a door-to-door visit.
