Udupi: Despite many incidents of open borewell tragedies having taken place in the state in the recent past, and strict orders being issued by all local administrations regarding the closure of such borewells, no action has been initiated by either the people concerned or the officials.

For instance in Coastal Ice plant in Pithrodi Sampige Nagar under Udyavar gram panchayat limits, there are 2 open borewells and a open well in a private property.

It is a public place and also school children go to school through this area.

The concerned and officials need to take action as early as possible.
