Karkala: In what comes as a happy ending to the case of the Sri Lankan national who had come to Karkala in search of her husband, she has finally succeeded in winning him back.
KR Rafia, a woman from Sri Lanka, had fallen in love and married Syed Mohsin Yousuf from Irvathur when she was working as a beautician in Kuwait in 2012, after knowing him for two years.
In 2013, Yousuf left to India and never returned. Unaware of his whereabouts, Rafia launched a search for him and came to Karkala.
Even as she was hopeful that he would return to her one day, a news that he had married another woman shattered all her dreams. She filed a complaint with the police here seeking justice. Suman Pernekar, a woman IPS police officer serving as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in Karkala sub division, summoned Yousuf to her office and investigated the matter. Though initially he denied his marriage with Rafia, he is now said to have agreed to the marriage after officer Pernekar warned him of dire consequences in case if he was found guilty.
Yousuf has now given an undertaking in writing that he would take care of both his wives. With this promise, Rafia is said to have flown back to Kuwait.
