Mangalore: The newly appointed Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dakshina Kannada district Dr Sharanappa Shivanand Dhage took charge here on Wednesday March 5.





Addressing a press meet at his office, an energetic Dr Sharanappa said, “The Law is the Bible to us, we will not bow down to any other forces and always abide by the law.”
With reference to the up-coming Lok Sabha election which is scheduled to be held in Karnataka on April 17, he said that security measures are being planned and discussed.
Sharanappa said, “Code of Conducted for the Lok Sabha elections will be followed. We will make sure the Lok Sabha elections will be peaceful, transparent and fair.”
He also felt that Basic policing and Professional policing is required and needs to be implemented.
Delving on some burning issues in the district, he said, “Naxalism and Communalism are the two major issues which will be addressed. Communalism is a sensitive issue and will be tackled cautiously,” he said adding as far as Naxalism is concerned the services of the Anti-Naxal Force and Tri-Junction anti naxal squad will be put to good use.”
Sharanappa Shivanand Dhage who is from Gulbarga is a 2009 batch IPS officer. He has earlier served as SP of Gadag district. He has also been an ASP at Shimoga and Sagar and SI at Tumkur.
The erstwhile SP Shantanu Sinha has been transferred to Bangalore.
