Moodbidri :
State Minister for Youth Services and Fisheries Abhayachandra Jain  has  assured that he will not allow the setting up of the Niddodi thermal plant  during his life time.

Speaking to reporters at Press club here on February 10, Monday Jain said “ They will have to construct the plant  over my dead body if they  decide to go ahead with the project.”

To a question if he was aware that the CM was defending the Niddodi project plans, Abhaya was a bit  upset and said  “ Does the CM know where Niddodi is? It is not enough if anyone visits Delhi, meet the minister concerned and secure an assurance. There need to be concerted efforts. The erstwhile government has tried to resort to politics on the issue. But we will not do so. The Project will not come up,” he assured.

He said the foundation for the Mangalore-Moodbidri-Karkala four-lane project would be laid after the  budget  presentation. He said there is a proposal to have a ring road  at a cost of Rs 5 crores to Moodbidri and added the PWD minister has agreed to the proposal.

Abhaya informed that a sum of Rs 13.64 crore has been sanctioned for the laying of roads in Moodbidri under Prime Minister’s Sadak Yojana. The tender process is complete, he said adding  roads will also be repaired a t accost of Rs  6 crores.
