Union Minister DVS promises innovation in Railways

Mangalore: Union Railways Minister DV Sadananda Gowda has assured to bring about innovation in the Railway Department with a focus on four S namely Safety, Service, Security and Speed.

 

He was addressing party workers at the District BJP office here on Saturday May 31. Sadananda Gowda who is on a maiden visit to the district after taking charge as Union Minister, said he was indeed fortunate to work along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also enjoy the privilege of presenting the Railway Budget.

“A boy who once wandered near the Railway Track is now the Railway Minister,” Gowda described himself and owed his present position to the blessings of his mother and the people of the district.

 He also promised a sincere and corruption-free tenure as Union Railway Minister.

Admitting that he has a huge responsibility on his shoulders, DV Sadananda Gowda said he may need at least a month to study the railway sector.

Blaming former railway minister Mallikarjun Kharge, Gowda said he (Kharge) has passed a burden on my shoulders  by announcing an increase of 10 percent hike in railway tariff and 5 percent hike on freight. As the same has not been implemented, Gowda said he was trying to sort  out the issue  by finding a way out.
An emotionally charged Gowda also said he visited Mangalore to meet his 91 year old mother and seek her blessings.

BJP leader Sanjeeva Matandoor  presented a ten point demand including setting up of a separate Mangalore Division of Railways.

The Minister assured  to consider the demands and strive to fulfil the same. At the same time, he said immediate results should not be expected.

District BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak also spoke. Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Padmanabha Kottary, Nagaraj Shetty, Rukmaya Poojary and other party leaders were present.
