Mangalore : DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai has kick-started the Akrama-Sakrama process of regularising the government land in rural areas where houses have been constructed unauthorisedly.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the process at the taluk office on Saturday May 31, Rai said the government aims at ensuring sites for all people. Continuing, he regretted that people were encroaching government lands and constructing houses there despite several schemes offering sites to the eligible beneficiaries.
He said the process will be carried out for two years when over 25000 sites will be regularised.
Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu said there are several families in the district which have constructed houses unauthorisedly on government lands. Most of these dwellers do not enjoy benefits of government schemes as they do not possess title deeds, he added.
As per the amendments made to the Karnataka Land Revenue Regulations 1996, excluding CMCs, TMCs and town panchayat limits, the government land where people have constructed houses unauthorisedly will be regularised.
AB Ibrahim, Deputy commissioner, Guruprasad, Tahsildar and other officials were present.
