MCC general meeting; BJP questions hike on property tax

Mangalore: A general meeting was held on Saturday May 31, under the leadership of Mayor Mahabala Maarla at MCC Netravati conference hall.

Addressing on the subject of Self- assessment property tax, BJP members questions were raised with regards to the scheme. During the Lok sabha election Congress promised not to increase the tax however there has been still been an existent hike of 15 percent.

Although there has been an assurance by the mayor to convene another special meeting to discuss the issues related to SAS to clear all the doubts.

Inconsolable the BJP member kept agitating over the issue in the meeting creating fury and chaos.

The mayor asserted that the tax was increased by the district administration and not by us (Congress) when electoral code of conduct was in place. Hence, a proper investigation will be done and the matter will be studied to clear all doubts and misunderstandings.

MCC members and officials were present at the meet.
