Unidentified assailants brutally assault student

Bantwal : In a shocking incident reported from  B.C. Road, a  college student was allegedly kidnapped and attacked by a gang of unidentified men on February 18. They had then dumped the boy near the B.C.Road railway station on February 19, Wednesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Mohammad Basha alias Bashith(19), son of Mohammad of Mularapatna.  He is a diploma student at Mahaveera College, Moodbidri.

The incident is learnt to have taken place at Bhandaribettu when  he was heading towards BC Road to pick up a friend  Rizwan who worked in a jewellery store at Farangipete. Bashith has informed that a three member gang  which came by a Maruti Omni intercepted his two-wheeler at around 8.45 pm.  He said they threw chilly powder on his eyes, pushed him to the ground and kicked him on his face. Bashith fell unconscious and was dumped near the BC road railway station where he  lay blindfolded on Wednesday morning.  He somehow managed to go home and inform about the incident. It is learnt the assailants have robbed his mobile phone and a cash of Rs 1000.

Family searches all night : The family of Bashith had searched for him the entire night. His mobile phone was ringing till 10.30 pm.  A person who received the call from his father at that time had  questioned the caller. Bashith’s father disconnected the call out of fear. It is said the mobile phone  went switched off later.

Following a police complaint at 11 pm the police launched a search and found his two-wheeler and mobile case  at Bhandaribettu late night.

Bashith has been admitted to a private hospital in Tumbay. Bantwal police are investigating the case.
