Udupi: Express bus services on the Mangalore-Udupi route remain  suspended after bus drivers resorted to a protest on June 10, Monday condemning the assault on a bus driver for not giving side to another vehicle.

The incident took place on June 9, Sunday night. It has been alleged that  five persons belonging to a political party who were travelling in a Ritz car(KA 20 P 8328), intercepted the bus near Udyavar and then attacked the bus driver.
 
They then  dragged the driver Dinesh out of the vehicle and then attacked him. Dinesh has been admitted to Government Hospital at Ajjarkad.The driver of another bus who came to Dineshs rescue and a few passengers were also assaulted.
