Moodabidri: In two separate fire accidents, two ATMs owned by State Bank of Mysore and a cattle shed were gutted with losses running into lakhs on January 31.

In the first accident, two ATMs belonging to the SBM were charred due to short circuit. Alert public ensured in preventing further losses by summoning fire personnel quickly and helping in extinguishing the rampaging fire in ATMs located close to main road in the market area.

In the other incident the entire cattle shed in the backyard of the residence of Monappa Bhandary in Marakada of Puttige Gram Panchyath was gutted by the fire. Residents with help from neighbours succeeded in saving the live stock.
