Budget session to be presented today, say sources

New Delhi: The much-awaited Budget session that was likely to be postponed after the demise of Kerala MP E. Ahamed may be presented today itself as per schedule, said sources.

As per established norms the house is traditionally adjourned to mourn the demise of a sitting member. A lot of speculation has hence arisen if the Budget will be presented today or postponed to February 2.Sources within the government have now hinted that the Union Budget will be presented today itself, however it may get delayed from its scheduled time of 11 am. The government is consulting all the Opposition parties, most of which have demanded the postponement of the Budget as per the traditional norms.

“The Budget will be presented. Obituary may happen before or after it. The government has spoken to all parties and arrived at a consensus,” sources said.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has arrived at the Parliament.
An official confirmation is still awaited.
