Transport Adalat : RTO receives flood of complaints

Mangalore :  Mangalore Regional Transport Officer C Mallikarjuna has informed that it has been proposed to have 36 bus bays  on either side of the  four-lane roads along the National Highways which are being developed in the district. The Bus Bays, he said will come up with the co-operation of the National Highway Authority.


He was presiding over the Transport Adalat held at the RTO office on July 10, Wednesday. The RTO received several complaints pertaining to cut in city bus trips, unnecessary delay  by some buses which halt for long at some bus stops, use of ear deafening horns, parking problems etc etc.

Hanumantha Kamath of Nagarika Hithrakshana Samithi said  there is frequent traffic jam on the road in front of the Hotel Taj Mahal at Hampankatta as  vehicles proceeding towards KS Rao Road take a turn here.

There were complaints that the city buses were cutting short trips even when  the Kadri Shivabhag road was in good shape.

Choodamani of Citizens Association suggested that the reserved seats for women be increased considering the increasing number of women passengers in buses.

Assistant Commissioner of Police GV Subrahmanya and others were present.
