Moodbidri : A torch light procession (Panjina Meravanige) will be taken out by the Mathru Bhoomi Samrakshana Samithi of Niddodi on February 1 at 7pm in Moodbidri town in order to pressurise the government to drop the proposed Niddodi thermal power project.
In a press communiqué, the Samithi said the protestors will arrive from Niddodi to Moodbidri town where they will take out the torchlight procession on the main streets. A memorandum will be later forwarded to the Chief Minister through the Tahsildar.
The Samithi has taken strong exception to the failure of the state government to interact with the Union Government on the proposal to drop the project, consequent upon the assurance given by Union Energy Minister Jyothiraditya Sindhia to a delegation of the Samithi some time back.
