Kasargod: A tragic accident involving two bikes and a lorry left three youngsters dead on the National Highway at Bandiyod Mallangai, late night on Tuesday December 10.
The deceased are identified as Althaf, Irshad and Raishad, all aged 19 years and residents of Kayyaru Merkala.Reportedly the three were returning by bike after attending Expo festival at Uppala Nayabazar. As they were on their way back, their bike collided against another bike that came from opposite direction. The three were thrown to the road due to the impact of the collision. A goods lorry plying from Mangalore to Kasargod ran over them killing them on the spot.
The riders of the other bike were injured in the accident. They have been identified as 38-year-old Mohamed Kasim from Uppala, his wife 29-year-old Nilofer and their daughter.
The accident on the National Highway at Bandiyod Mallangai created utter chaos and disrupted traffic for over an hour. The Kumble police and Manjeshwar fire brigade personnel arrived at the spot. The bodies were taken to the Kasargod general hospital.
It is also learnt that Althaf was employed in a hotel at Thiruvananthapuram, Irshad had returned to the town few days ago while Raishad also had come a few days ago and was working as a labourer. The three were close friends.
