Mangalore : Team Mangalore, a hobby group of kite flyers from Mangalore will be participating in the Hong Kong International Kite Festival on an invitation from the organizers. The three day event will begin on October 13 under the aegis of Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation and the Southern District Council of Hong Kong.
A press communiqué from Team Mangalore said only three nations including India, China and Japan have been invited for the event.
Team Mangalore will be represented by Prashant Upadhyaya, Subhash Pai, Dinesh Holla and Shashank Shetty. Team Mangalore’s special kites like Garuda, Butterfly and Devil Delta are set to soar to new heights at the Hong Kong Festival. The Team will also display its creations like Pushpaka Vimana, Bird, Bea Eater, Durga, Yakshagana and Bharatanatyam at the event.
The Hong Kong Kite Festival will also have workshops wherein people would be taught to make and fly kites.
Team Member Dinesh Holla who is also a noted artist will also teach line art drawing during the festival.
Team Mangalore has so far participated in various international kite festivals held at Sri Lanka, Italy, UK, France, Dubai, Korea and other nations. It has even won the top honours for its Pushpaka Vimana kite (Unique Design Category) at the Udaipur International Kite Festival.
