Firm dupes 21 after promising jobs in Dubai

Mangalore : Nearly 21  people who had left for the Gulf with dreams in their eyes are now a disappointed lot after a firm in Mangalore which had recruited them ditched them after collecting as much as Rs 90,000 from each of them. If 9 of the  men have returned to their hometowns from Dubai with the help of the Indian Embassy there, 12 are still left stranded in Dubai.

Jagadish Murdeshwara, one of the 21 men who arrived hometown  informed that  the company in Mangalore had promised a good job with boarding, lodging and other amenities and had collected Rs  45000 for Visa, Rs 4000 for emigration and Rs 3000 for medical check-up. He says each one of them had spent Rs 90,000.

They had reached Abu Dhabi on September 17 where they were made to  work in a dates company from 8 am to 8 pm. The next day they were made to work from 5 am and then taken in a lorry like vehicle to Dubai where they were reportedly made to plant saplings on road side. Finally, when they protested, they were thrown away from their room and left on the streets. They then contacted the Indian Embassy which made arrangements to send nine of them back.
Those who returned  after being cheated are :  Raghava Poojari of Kundapur, Zakaria Hussain   of Padubidri, Basheer Mohammad (30) of Uppinangady, Naushad Ullal (30), Abdul Javed(23) of Koppa, Manohar Kairoch (28), Jagadish Murdeshwar (25) of Honnavar, Ashraf Mohammad (33) of Ullal and Rahim (35) of Murdeshwar.
