Sullia: The residents of Sullia are relieved from acute water scarcity as the waterflow in the Payaswini river increased due to showers in the Kodagu region.
Payaswini river which was a key water source to the Sullia town had dried up and water available in the temporary dam was sufficient only for a couple of days.
However, with heavy showers in the region, the water level has slightly increased and can be utilised for a week or so.
The water level had increased earlier itself, as pumping of water from the river for agricultural purpose was halted. They have continued to fetch water through jackwell system as they are unable to directly pump the water.
