Udupi: The students of Polipu Government Pre-University College, Kaup, along with their parents protested against the prolonged absence and misconduct of their Kannada lecturer, on January 23, Thursday.


The students have alleged that their Kannada lecturer Amar Narayana Swami M has taken hardly 30 classes for the past seven months ever since he was appointed on probation.
It is learnt, of late the college who took his prolonged absence seriously appointed another lecturer and stopped his salary. On Thursday January 23, Narayana Swami approached Principal Veena Rao, created a scene and insisted that he be given his salary and work certificate. He also threatened that he would complain against her if the certificate was not issued. Following this, S R Shinda, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, asked the principal to issue a show cause notice to the lecturer asking him to explain his prolonged absence in writing.
However, the lecturer tore the show cause notice issued by the principal and said that he had not come to answer anyone’s questions.
The students, lecturers, college development committee, Polipu Mogaveera Sabha, Mogaveera Mahila Sabha and parents of the students who came to know about the matter protested in the premises of the college on Thursday.
