Karkala: Students must not restrict their studies to mere text books, but must broaden their horizons by engaging themselves in art, literary and cultural activities, said Vishweshwar Bhat, Lecturer in Kannada at Vittal Pre-University College.








He was speaking as a chief guest at the Gaana Kuncha-Kalavaibahava, a unique programme held at the Prakruti Group of Institutions at Sanoor on January 22. As part of the musical and painting Jugalbandi, nationally acclaimed singer Sripad Bhat Kadathoka presented a musical concert, while eminent artist Neernalli Ganapathi drew amazing art works with articulate strokes of his brush on the canvas. Ganapathi Bhat accompanied the artistes on the tabla. The programme was co-ordinated by Vishweshwar Bhat.
Helen Crasta, Secretary of Prakruti Group of Institutions, Raghavendra Shenoy, Principal, Ashok Kumar, Administrative Officer and others were present.
Ramakrishna Hegde, Kannada Lecturer compered the programme. Vice Principal Vinayak Jog proposed the vote of thanks.
Fire fighting demo : A mock drill on fire fighting was presented before the students under the guidance of Chief Fire Service Officer of Mangalore Fire Service Department. Varadaraj exhorted the students on ways to tackle fire mishaps with bravery instead of panicking. Students actively participated in the fire fighting demonstration.
