Mangalore :M Janaki Brahmavar the new President of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy has said that Tulu is a powerful language and each and everyone belonging to Tulunadu has the onerous responsibility of promoting the language.


Addressing presspersons at the Tulu Academy Chavadi on March 6, Thursday, during her maiden interaction with the press, she said there is a long way to go in the process of uplifting Tulu language. “People should have admiration for English language, but alongside they should not forget their native Tulu language,” she said.
She informed that steps would be taken to start Tulu Associations in schools and colleges and also stressed the need to encourage Tulu writers.
To a question on the Tulu Bhavan construction, she said the works are complete by 40 per cent with the Rs 3 crore sanctioned by the government. She also informed that the total estimated cost of the project is Rs 7 crores.
Tulu Academy Registrar Chandrahas Rai, new members Prof. Vedavathi, DM Kulal, Mohan Koppala, Jayashree, Idkidu Raghu and others were present.
