State level seminar on development convened at SDM College

Belthangady:A State level seminar was organised on “Redefining Development: A way forward” by the Department of post graduate studies and research in Social work of SDM College on Thursday.

Inaugurating the symposium, Economics department professor of Mangalore University Prof.ShripathiKalluraya said ,”redefining is a continuous process and one should redefine their thinking and life.That is the way to move forward. Whether educated or uneducated, one has to make their life welfare oriented through redefining.”

Presiding over the event, Vice Principal of SDM College Prof.T Krishna Murthy questioned “Why is India termed a developing nation even when infrastructure and many other aspects of society have improved exponentially?”

He stated that facilities have increased and become so common that even a beggar has a mobile phone and stagnant Indian economy requires creative ideas and concepts for progress.

Head of department of Social work, Prof.K R Ravishankar was present on the occasion.The valedictory session saw Director of SIRI Gramodyog Manorama Bhat G V delivering valedictory address and Dean of PG studies, SDM College, Prof.MY Manjula presided over the programme.
 
Students Manjunath Bhovi and Prahlad M Byali welcomed the guests and proposed the vote of thanks respectively. Student Asha Moger compered the programme.
