State govt. initiates “Ayush Pushti” and “Rajiv Gandhi Arogya”

Mangalore: The health and family welfare minister U T Khadar, under a new initiative from the department of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoepathy) provided ‘Ayush Pushti’ biscuits for children, after which he addressed the media personals at Circuit House on Saturday November 16.

After distributing the biscuits UT Khadar said, “The ‘Ayush Pushti’ biscuits cater to malnutrition among children aiming to increase their immunity, digestion and concentration. It possesses 15 various ayurvedic benefits and is made especially for the well being of the children.”

Under the program, the state government has decided to distribute ‘Ayush Pushti’ biscuits to more than 3000 children in various Anganwadi around Bagalkot and few parts of Jamakhandi.

Moreover a three month research will be conducted for which the government will dispense 200 doctors and 150 Anganwadi teachers to examine the changes in children. The check up will be conducted once in every 15 days.

It was also learnt that if the research delivers good results, the government has ensured to provide grant to the National Human Right Movement (NHRM), to extend the program in different parts of the state.

An outsourced company has been appointed to bake these ayurvedic biscuits as of now but Ayush tends to have their own baking unit in future.

With reference to the Rajiv Gandhi Arogya Shree scheme UT Khadar said, “The congress state government has planned to provide medical aid to both BPL and APL ration card holders.”

“The government is inclined to provide medical treatment for free of cost for both the APL and BPL card holders, wherein the scheme is limited to APL card holders as they will have to spend 10% of total expenditure incurred”, he added.

It was informed that the Rajiv Gandhi Arogya Shree scheme will gratify around 400 health hazards with an aim to create universal health coverage. Already 158 hospitals in the state and 9 hospitals in the district have been taken under consideration assuring progress to the scheme, some of the hospitals are the KS Hegde hospital, Yenopoya hospital, Father Mullers hospital, AJ hospital, Indian hospital, Omega, and KMC hospital.

Hyderabad, Karnataka, Belgaum and other regions of Karnataka have been taken into deliberation and hospitals at Karnoor, Secunderbad, Sholapur and Maharashtra are to be lined up for the scheme. An expert panel will be assigned to scrutinize and monitor to make sure that the scheme is not been misused.

As the press meet concluded, UT Khadar confirmed that he will attend the International conference on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) at Thailand which will commence for 5 days from November 18 to November 22.
